Randy Alvarado grew up in Sarapiquí where he studied Ecotourism in high school. He comes from a family of conservationists and was motivated by his uncles who are birdiers and tour guides since the 90's to become a naturalist. After graduation, he worked with different reserves and travel companies around Sarapiqui and Costa Rica as a freelance guide. Randy nowadays has his own Birding Tour Operator, known as Oropendola Expeditions where he strives to teach the importance of the tropical rainforest and how important conservation is today. He considers Costa Rica as one of the premier countries for its abundance of biodiversity. His passion for wildlife and especially birds is evident on every tour he does.
